Jim Lauckhardt is the Chief Impact and Evaluation Officer at C&S, where he leads the organization’s impact and evaluation work, helping C&S understand how young people develop the skills to become actively engaged citizens and how the organization and its partners can best support that development. He connects research, measurement, and program learning to strengthen C&S’s work, demonstrate its impact, and help effective civic skill development approaches reach more young people.
Previously, Jim served as Senior Director of Strategy and Analytics at College Board, where he led strategy for the Learning & Assessment division, bringing together expertise in research, assessment design, and psychometrics to advance the measurement of student learning at scale. As Managing Director of Organizational Learning and Impact at iMentor, he built the organization’s research and evaluation function and introduced an organization-wide learning framework, connecting evidence of program impact with strategic decisions and continuous improvement. He also served as a Senior Research Scientist at the CUNY Graduate Center, where he evaluated statewide civics education programs and conducted research on STEM education and classroom innovation. Jim holds a BA in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and both an MA and PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University.
Jim lives on Long Island with his wife, Jill, their three children, and three dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching youth lacrosse, cheering on his kids at games, and tackling home improvement projects. He is deeply involved in his community through youth sports and serves as president of his local school board. He also enjoys traveling with his family, kayaking, skiing, and spending time outdoors. Between family, sports, and community life, there’s rarely a quiet weekend, and that’s generally how he likes it.
“What makes me optimistic is seeing young people learn that they can make a difference in new and unique ways, and adults creating the space for them to try.”
