Sonya Houston

Sonya Houston is the Director of Events at C&S, where she helps produce polished, high-impact events for the organization’s internal and external audiences.

Before joining C&S, Sonya led event strategy and operations for a full-service event planning and management agency based in Chicago. She earned an MA in Media Management from Columbia College.

Described as thoughtful, creative, and warm, Sonya enjoys travel, reality TV shows, and spending time with her pit bull, Kam.

What makes you optimistic about our democracy?

“I feel optimistic about our democracy because the country has weathered deep crises and challenges before but our core institutions, courts, and institutional checks (e.g., free press, etc.) have ultimately held up. I am optimistic this will continue to be the case now and in the future.”
